We partner with local "host bands" who can help us with local marketing and logistics. If your community has a festival or special event or wants to organise a concert get in touch to discuss.
Whether your band is A-Grade or just starting out, large or small, Bras and Brass is the perfect companion for your musical journey. We believe every community event is a golden opportunity to raise awareness for breast cancer research through our shared love of brass music.

We are an inclusive group and welcome all female brass and percussion players from across New Zealand. Whether you are currently in an A-grade band or just picking your instrument back up, we’d love to have you on our database.
Bras and Brass is self-funded. To ensure every cent we raise goes to breast cancer research, our members personally fund their own travel and accommodation for our rehearsal and performance weekends.
We aren't a weekly rehearsal band. We gather for intensive, high-energy "event weekends" in different parts of the country. It’s like a musical family reunion!
We offer two secure ways to support our work:

Whether you give online or via bank transfer, we are incredibly grateful for your support in helping us strike a chord for the cure!
Funds raised from our concerts and through the Bras and Brass Foundation go toward supporting life-saving breast cancer research through the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ and supporting brass musicians diagnosed with breast cancer.

No. Our entire management team and Trustees are 100% volunteers who donate their professional skills to the cause.
Our Musical Director, Michelle Lowe, also generously volunteers her time and world-class expertise to lead the band. To support her incredible contribution, the Foundation covers her travel for our performance weekends, ensuring she can be there to baton the "Women in Pink" wherever we gather.
It represents our "Women in Pink" identity and our mission to raise awareness for breast cancer through our shared passion for brass music. Plus, it’s a bit of fun—and you can't keep a good woman down!
